This weekend the Cava capital of the world will be in full dress for the annual "Festa de la Fil-loxera" town party. Complete with parades, elaborate costumes, fireworks, and the famous Catalan "Diables". This annual reminder of how the townspeople, with their vineyards under the threat and attack of the phylloxera insect, rebounded and successfully overcame the infestation to revive the wine trade. It is a dedication to the spirit and character of the people, as well as a tribute to the town's principal resource - wine.
